The primary purpose of the Healthy School Planner is to:
- Provide schools with information about the health status of their school
- Assist schools with planning and evaluation efforts
- Facilitate teamwork among schools, school community partners and health organizations
- Assist education and health program planners and researchers to target, plan and evaluate efforts to improve the health of a school community using data from the Planner
The information you enter into the Planner and the results will be retained at the Propel Centre for Population Health Impact at the University of Waterloo on a secure server, accessible only to research staff assigned to this project. Only names of participating schools will be made publically available (e.g., listed on the Planner website); the Pan-Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health and the University of Waterloo will ensure that no other identifying information entered into or generated by the Planner is shared without explicit permission from your school. While your school is in no way obligated to share the results of your assessment or how you have used the results of your assessment to help you plan your improvements, you are encouraged to share your school’s results with your school community.
Upon completing one or more of the Healthy School Planner modules, you will be asked to grant access to the data resulting from the use of the Healthy School Planner so that aggregate results and secondary research and analysis can occur in support of policy and program planning. The Pan-Canadian Joint Consortium for School Health and the University of Waterloo will ensure that findings cannot be linked to you or your school. Your school’s data will be combined with data from other schools that have used the Planner, making your school’s data indistinguishable from the others, and ensuring confidentiality.
